Description
Part of Fender’s California Series, the Newporter Classic pairs a striking Hot Rod Red Metallic finish with the kind of tone that holds its own in a live mix. The mid-sized Newporter body is shaped for balance rather than boom—loud enough to fill a room, controlled enough to stay articulate when you dig in. A fully painted solid Sitka spruce top sits over solid mahogany back and sides, and the two-toned look is finished off with a matching painted 6-in-line headstock, koa binding, and rosette.
Underneath the finish is real build substance: optimized internal bracing trims excess mass and lets the top resonate more freely, while a bone nut and saddle add sustain and clarity you can hear on every note. Plug in and the onboard Fender/Fishman-designed preamp—voiced specifically for this body shape—translates that acoustic character to an amp without turning thin or quacky.
The mahogany neck uses a slim-taper “C” profile that feels equally at home fingerstyle or strumming, and the pau ferro fingerboard and bridge add warmth and low-end depth to the overall voice. It’s an acoustic-electric that looks like nothing else in the room and sounds ready to work.
