Description
The Malibu Classic swaps traditional dreadnought bulk for a compact, short-scale body that feels slinkier under your fingers and invites you to explore chord voicings you might not reach for on a standard acoustic. Finished in eye-catching Hot Rod Red Metallic over a solid Sitka spruce top, with natural solid mahogany back and sides, matching painted 6-in-line headstock, and koa binding and rosette, it’s built to be seen as much as heard.
Beneath the striking finish is a genuinely thought-out instrument. Optimized internal bracing keeps the body light while boosting resonance, and an upgraded bone nut and saddle add sustain and clarity to every note. Fender teamed up with Fishman to design a preamp system voiced specifically for the Malibu shape, so plugging in doesn’t flatten the guitar’s natural character – onstage or in the studio, it still sounds like itself.
The mahogany neck carries a slim-taper “C” profile that stays comfortable across playing styles, paired with a pau ferro fingerboard and bridge that add warmth and richness to the tone. It’s a guitar that looks unconventional but plays with the confidence and feel Fender is known for.
