Description
The Redondo Special trades vintage tradition for something bolder. Its slope-shouldered Redondo body, exclusive to Fender’s California Series, is built for players who want a big, room-filling sound without the fuss of a dreadnought silhouette. The solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides are fully painted in Matte Black, with a matching painted 6-in-line headstock and maple binding and rosette adding to the guitar’s unconventional edge.
Under the hood, this isn’t just a looks-first instrument. Optimized bracing cuts unnecessary mass so the top can resonate more freely, while an upgraded bone nut and saddle push sustain further than you’d expect from a guitar in this class. Plug in and you’ll find a Fender/Fishman-designed preamp voiced specifically for the Redondo shape, preserving the guitar’s acoustic character rather than flattening it into a generic amplified tone.
The mahogany neck wears a slim-taper “C” profile that suits fingerstyle and strumming alike, paired with a pau ferro fingerboard and matching pau ferro bridge that add warmth and clarity to the voice. Onboard controls cover volume, bass, and treble, plus tuner and phase controls for stage-ready flexibility.
