The Fender Villager 12 String takes the jangly, layered voice of a twelve-string and wraps it in a comfortable, gig-ready package. Part of Fender’s California Series, it pairs a solid spruce top with scalloped X bracing against laminated mahogany back and sides, delivering the shimmering complexity 12-strings are known for without sacrificing low-end warmth. Fender’s “tight” dreadnought body shape keeps the guitar feeling manageable despite the extra string count.
Recent updates sharpen both look and feel: a three-ply pickguard, a bone nut, and a vintage-styled rosewood “Viking” bridge with a compensated bone saddle work together to improve sustain and intonation. The vintage C-shaped maple neck rides on a dual-action truss rod and wears a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, all topped by the Villager’s distinctive headstock silhouette. Body binding and a checkerboard rosette add a touch of vintage flair, while chrome hardware and a forward strap button with internal block reinforcement round out the build.
Plugging in reveals the Fishman Isys III system, an active onboard preamp with built-in tuner and dedicated volume, bass, mid, and treble controls, plus a low battery indicator so you’re never caught off guard mid-set. Strung at the factory with Fender Dura-Tone coated 80/20 bronze strings (.012-.052), it’s ready to play right out of the case.
