Description
The Sonoran SCE takes Fender’s California series and dresses it up with vintage touches that nod to the brand’s SoCal roots. A three-ply pickguard, bone nut and saddle, and the vintage-style Fender “Viking” bridge give it a look that feels lived-in and classic right out of the case, while the tight-waisted dreadnought cutaway body keeps upper-fret access easy without sacrificing that big, familiar dreadnought voice.
Under the hood, a solid spruce top with scalloped X bracing pairs with laminated mahogany back and sides for a tone that’s warm and articulate, with plenty of headroom for strumming or fingerstyle work. The vintage C-shaped maple neck carries a dual-action truss rod and a painted headstock shaped after a Stratocaster’s, topped off with body binding and a checkerboard rosette that plays up the guitar’s retro personality.
Plug-in performance comes courtesy of a Fishman Isys III system with an active onboard preamp and built-in tuner, so you can go from unplugged porch playing to a full PA setup without extra gear. A forward strap button with internal block reinforcement means you can throw it over your shoulder and go.
