Description
The Fender MC-1 is a scaled-down classical guitar designed to make learning nylon-string playing feel natural rather than intimidating. Its 3/4 body size and 23.3″ scale length suit younger students, smaller-framed players, or anyone who finds a full-size classical unwieldy, while the 1.69″ nut width still gives fingers room to work between the strings.
Fender built this mini classical with real tonewood character in mind. The back and sides are laminated sapele, a tropical hardwood prized for its rich, full-bodied voice, paired with a laminated agathis top and traditional X bracing. The result is a surprisingly grown-up sound from a compact instrument. A nato neck with rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays keeps the feel familiar and comfortable, backed by a dual-action truss rod for reliable adjustability.
Recent upgrades push this model beyond typical entry-level classicals. Open-gear tuning machines with pearloid buttons hold pitch far more consistently than basic hardware, the rosewood bridge features a compensated saddle for cleaner intonation up the neck, and a synthetic bone nut adds clarity and sustain. It’s finished with a screened Fender headstock logo and comes strung with Fender Nylon Classical 100 strings (.028-.043 gauge).
