Piezo pickups are notoriously finicky — thin, harsh, or prone to howling feedback the moment you crank a stage monitor. The Radial PZ-Pre was engineered specifically to solve that problem, whatever acoustic instrument you’re plugging in: guitar, banjo, violin, cello, mandolin, contrabass, bouzouki, lute, you name it. At its core are 100% discrete class-A piezo boosters paired with an ultra-quiet preamp stage that adapts to nearly any pickup system on the market.
Two independent inputs let you swap instruments mid-set or blend a pair together without missing a beat. A semi-parametric EQ gives you real tonal control, while the feedback-fighting toolkit — dual-Q notch filter, high-pass filter, and phase reverse switch — helps you find and kill problem frequencies before they wreck your set.
Routing is equally thorough. You get a dedicated instrument amp output for on-stage use, a balanced XLR pre-EQ direct out for the front-of-house mix, and a separate balanced XLR post-EQ out feeding monitors or in-ears. A muted tuner output keeps tuning silent between songs, and an effects loop plus power booster let you add extra sparkle and punch when the moment calls for it.
Despite the feature count, the PZ-Pre stays compact and straightforward — as comfortable in a home studio as it is on a club stage or festival rig.
