The CE44P-SM takes the Celebrity Elite Plus concept and dresses it up with a striking spalted maple top, part of Ovation’s push to pair upgraded looks with the brand’s signature acoustic personality. It retains the familiar mid-depth Lyrachord cutaway bowl body, but the top is where this guitar sets itself apart, with the multi-soundhole Elite layout that opens up clear top-end detail while keeping the low end focused rather than boomy.
Underneath that top sits a quartersawn, scalloped X-bracing pattern that Ovation refined after studying its own bracing history. The result leans on past designs but is tuned for modern playing, giving the instrument natural resonance, responsive dynamics, and enough headroom to push it harder without losing composure. Combined with the shaped body and soundhole placement, you get that recognizable Elite voice: full projection, distinct note separation, and tonal depth that holds up whether you’re fingerpicking or strumming.
Cosmetically, the top is finished with multi-wood epaulets, black binding, and abalone purfling under a glossy topcoat, so it photographs as well as it plays. The neck matches that attention to detail with a satin finish, black binding, and a 10-inch radius rosewood fretboard carrying abalone inlays across 20 frets (extending to 24 on the high E). A rosewood bridge rounds out the acoustic side of things.
