Description
Soprano ukes have that classic bark and chime everyone loves, but the tiny fretboard can feel like a squeeze once you start reaching for higher positions. Gretsch solved that with the G9100-L, which keeps the traditional soprano voice but stretches things out with a 15″ scale and a 16-fret concert-size neck. The neck joins the body at the 14th fret, so you get considerably more real estate to explore up the fingerboard without losing that signature soprano sparkle.
Body-wise, it’s mahogany all around — top, back, and sides — giving the instrument a warm, woody foundation that balances the string’s natural brightness. The ovangkol fingerboard and bridge add a touch of tonal depth and durability, while a bone nut and saddle help every note ring clear and sustain properly. Open-back geared tuners keep tuning stable and precise, a big step up from friction pegs, and Aquila Nylgut strings are strung up from the factory for that authentic gut-string feel and tone modern players expect.
