Description
The G9201 Honey Dipper is Gretsch’s take on the classic single-cone resonator, built around a bell brass body that gives it real weight, sustain, and that unmistakable metallic growl. The weathered “Pump House Roof” finish isn’t trying to look pristine — it’s meant to look lived-in, like the guitar’s already spent decades on a porch or a train platform, which fits the instrument’s whole character.
Under the hood is Gretsch’s “Ampli-Sonic” resonator cone, spun from 99% pure aluminum in Eastern Europe, paired with an ebony-tipped maple biscuit bridge and a brass cover plate stamped with a poinsettia design. Together they push out the sharp, cutting volume resonators are known for, whether you’re fingerpicking Delta blues or laying slide over an open tuning.
The mahogany neck carries a medium V profile with a 25″ scale and 1.75″ nut, topped with a rosewood board, medium jumbo frets, and aged pearloid position markers. It’s finished in a semi-gloss honey mahogany stain and topped off with a 1930s-style Gretsch 3×3 headstock. Grover Sta-Tite die-cast tuners and a bone nut round out the hardware, and it ships strung with D’Addario EJ16 phosphor bronze light strings (.012–.053).
